Bonita K. Baker, Attorney at Law

Bonita K. Baker, Attorney at LawBonita K. Baker is a multi-talented attorney with a varied background. Her hometown of Corydon, Indiana provided opportunities for Bonnie to serve as editor of her high school newspaper and to work as a freelance reporter for the Louisville Times. After winning a scholarship for being “best high school journalist,” Bonnie double majored in Journalism and English at Indiana University-Bloomington. In her early twenties, she worked as a newspaper reporter for the Cincinnati Post & Times-Star and the Lexington Leader. “Early on, I realized that the skills of a journalist — interviewing, researching, getting the facts right, and writing — are also the tools of a good attorney,” Bonnie says with a smile.

Bonnie’s writing talent led to several interesting jobs as she worked her way through law school at Indiana University-Indianapolis. She was a pension contract writer, author of many articles for a newsletter for the continuing education of judges, and a hearing officer for the Indiana State Employees Appeals Commission. After graduating from law school, Bonnie was privileged to work for two years as a staff attorney for the Court of Appeals of Kentucky. A Highlands resident, she also has had a lifelong love for older homes and holds a real estate broker’s license.

Bonnie sees herself as truly a “counselor at law.” In guiding men and women through the most difficult and emotional times of their lives, Bonnie always treats clients as unique individuals, not cases. As the divorced mother of two adult sons, she also understands the special concerns of a parent.

Hard work and accessibility to clients are the cornerstone of Bonnie’s law practice. “A successful family law lawyer combines knowledge of the law with caring service,” Bonnie says. “I always try to do just that.”
